Breaking: LEGAL IMMIGRATION REFORM PASSES 68-32! One step closer to fixing the broken system.
We are one step closer to legal immigration reform! IMMIGRATION REFORM PASSES 68-32!
If Republicans inject the Poison Pill to immigration reform, the RNC Chairman Reince Priebus is to blame for turning blind eye
If politicians from the Republican party inject a Poison Pill to comprehensive legal immigration reform, I’m afraid fingers should be squarely pointed at RNC’s Chairman Reince Preibus for turning a blind eye and sitting out a fight that will affect millions of American families of Mexican descent (fastest growing demographic population in our Nation). There are approximately 500,000 new coming of age Latin voters every single year and I see a train wreck coming for the GOP in light of their lack of leadership.
Most everyone will agree that the immigration system is broken, and immigration must be fixed at the federal level since the immigration law is protected under the Supremacy Clause of our United States Constitution.
In the coming weeks, we will indeed keep a watchful eye on the RNC to see if they really are in support of the economy. As you may already know, legal immigration will enhance the economy and it appears the RNC leadership continues to be silent to that regard.
According to a recent New York Times article:
“Immigrants contribute more in tax and social contributions than they get in individual benefits,” said Jean-Christophe Dumont, the O.E.C.D. official who headed the study. “That’s why the net fiscal impact is mostly positive.”
Yet, the RNC leadership continues to be silent on the economic positive impact of legal immigration.
NBC News discusses the RNC’s silence in depth below:
Just three months ago, the Republican Party establishment couldn’t have been more resolute: Achieving immigration reform is essential to the GOP’s future political viability.
A post-election autopsy commissioned by the Republican National Committee insisted that the party “must embrace and champion comprehensive immigration reform” or else risk that the GOP would “continue to shrink to its core constituencies only.”
….
The RNC report, which was released three months ago, was striking in its urgency – in part because as a political committee, the RNC rarely stakes out policy positions. But, as the report noted, immigration reform has become a “litmus test” among Hispanic voters, an increasingly important voting bloc that went for President Barack Obama by 44 points over Mitt Romney last fall.
But the RNC and many other instruments of Republican politics have mostly sat quietly as a bruising intraparty fight plays out on Capitol Hill.
Many other politically savvy Republicans echoed the RNC report’s language on immigration when it debuted almost three months ago.
Since then? Silence, mostly. The RNC hasn’t aired any ads or posted any videos looking to give Republican lawmakers the cover they need to support the immigration reform law now before the Senate;
Most everyone will agree that the immigration system is broken, and immigration must be fixed at the federal level since the immigration law is protected under the Supremacy Clause of our United States Constitution.
The Republican Party has been hijacked by dixiecrat and unreasonable Tea Party extremists, and weak leadership will drive the entire Party into the ground.
Talk is cheap, Priebus. If you really want “Hispanic” outreach … create ads and new messaging with regard to the positive economic impacts of legal immigration reform.
Contact Democratic National Committee / Debbie Wasserman Schultz – Stop funding anti-immigrant Democratic politicians for voting with Rep. Steve King!
Please contact the Democratic National Committee (DNC) at TOLL FREE 877-336-7200 and/or the Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and tell them to stop funding the below democratic political campaigns in 2014 campaigns because the below Democratic politicians voted alongside the well know bigot Rep. Steve King who has become the anti-immigrant face of the Republican Party.
- Rep. John Barrow D-Ga
- Rep. nick Rahall D-WV
- Rep. mike McIntyre D-NC
The aforementioned will go down in American history as politicians who voted to save their political necks in the “south” instead of standing on the right side of immigration. Their legacy will be one of not continuing the great immigrant story our United States stands for as we try to continue to be that global beacon.
President of SOMOS INDEPENENTS writes:
On June 6, 2013, U.S. Representative Steve King (R-IA) introduced an amendment to the Homeland Security Appropriations Bill, HR 2217, which stops funding for the Department of Homeland Security to process Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) applications and allow prosecutorial discretion to DREAMERS. Unbelievable, three U.S. Democratic Representatives, John Barrow (D-Ga.), Nick Rahall (D-W.V.), and Mike McIntyre (D-N.C.) supported and voted for King’s amendment to defund the DACA program. Are some of the Southern leaders in the Democratic Party becoming Dixiecrats like Senator James Strom Thurmond? Here is another fine example of why I went from being a Democrat to being an Independent. We must remember that five much needed Democratic Senators forsaken Hispanics and our community’s children in the last DREAM Act vote, by not supporting the passage of the DREAM Act. Now, we have three Democratic Representatives who have also forsaken our children/DREAMERS, once again. When will the Democratic Party, all stand-up for our immigrant children, including our LGBT immigrant children?
Apparently, the three Democratic Representatives that supported King’s amendment are confused. They say that they support “children and education,” but yet they vote for an amendment that cuts funding to allow our DREAM children to become legally presence DACA recipients.” This is the very reason why there are more Hispanic Democrats that are changing their political affiliation to the Independent Party. The Democratic Party needs to be reminded that they do NOT have the ‘Hispanic Vote’ all locked-up for the up-coming 2016 election and must start act accordingly. Yes, the GOP cannot control their extremists like Cruz, Sessions, Grassley, and King, who are currently helping the GOP to commit political suicide by their xenophobic actions against DREAMERS, CIR, and mixed-status families. But, if the GOP could exorcise the evilness out of their party and welcome Hispanics back into their fold, they could win the Presidency again, remember we voted Bush in.
Please send the DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and tell her to instruct the DNC to stop funding these democratic political campaigns. You can contact her directly here. Or you can contact the DNC here.
Remind the DNC there are approximately 500,000 new registered Latin voters every year (most are of Mexican descent) and we are the fastest growing demographic in the Nation.
Tell the DNC that we expect to see the same fervor they used with regard to the immigration issue as we saw when they were tackling the healthcare debate.
We want them to pull out all stops because we are tired of this decade long immigration debate.
WE ARE SIMPLY TIRED OF THIS ISSUE. We refuse to be political futbols and the political games — and this is precisely why there are rising independent registered voters across our Nation today.
We all know that the immigration system is broken, and we want to see the much legal immigration reform that will economically benefit our Nation and the retiring baby boomers.
Bottom line: New immigrant taxpayers will fund social security and government benefits our elderly needs!
If we don’t see the same passion from the democrats they expressed on health care … we will remember because this issue directly affects the core of our hearts.
We are standing by and hope to see the DNC give a verbal spanking to the 3 Democrats who voted with Steve King’s bigotry. We cannot afford to lose one single Democratic vote on the issue of legal immigration reform that is being discussed this week!

Latina Community: Democratic Party Will Lose More of the Fastest Growing Demographic If They Support Anti-Immigrant Policies
Here is why Shirl Mora James, President of SOMOS INDEPENDENTS left the Democratic Party and became an Independent voter in her own words below. Shirl is also a Civil Rights and Immigration Lawyer.
The Democratic National Committee must withhold funding from those Democratic politicians who voted in line with the bigot Rep. Steve King last Friday. We are keeping track of these anti-immigrant bigots. They need to remember that independent voters are rising across the nation and we are organizing.

Mexican – American Community: Rep. King (R-IA) wants to keep criminal immigrants longer in the U.S. than DREAMers.
Just in from Shirl Mora James who is the President of SOMOS INDEPENDENTS (formerly National Tequila Party Movement. Shirl is also a Civil Rights and Immigration Lawyer.
Rep. King (R-IA) wants to keep criminal immigrants longer in the U.S. than DREAMers.
On June 6, 2013, U.S. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) sponsored an amendment to the 2014 Department of Homeland Security spending bill, HR 2217, which defunds President Obama’s Executive Orders that allow ICE officials to focus their deportation efforts on undocumented convicted criminal immigrants instead of innocent documented noncriminal immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as young children (DREAMERS). Apparently, Rep. King believes convicted criminal immigrants without legal status are less significant to get out of our country than innocent children that are now documented and have legal presence via DHS’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) process.
Seemingly, according to Rep. King’s amendment, documented ‘DREAMERS/DACA Recipients’ who were bought to our country as innocent young children, educated as aspiring U.S. Americans in our school systems, who are high school graduates and many, who are also college educated or college students, who have no criminal history, are far more essential to deport than undocumented convicted criminal immigrants. The documented DACA recipients with legal presence and no criminal record are condemned by King’s amendment and the convicted criminals without legal presence are now once again allowed a lower priority for deportation purposes according to King’s misguided line of thinking.
Yes, U.S. Rep. King, let’s deport legally presence innocent documented non-criminals immigrants (DREAMERS/DACA recipients) and keep the convicted criminal immigrants without documentation here in our country instead. Are you so blinded by your own bias that you cannot see the trees because of the forest? Rep. King, you need to be reminded that unless you are a Native American Indian, you, too, had a DREAMER in your family when your ancestors first immigrated to this country from another continent. Shame on you!

Mexican-American Women-led Political National Organization Blasts the Republican Party
DeeDee Garcia Blase, Communications -- (480) 200-3748
Mexican-Americans account for almost 70% of the entire “Latin” population pie, and they are also the fastest growing population in the country. We await the United States Senate as we compile a list of those who stood on the right side of immigration vs. those who do not stand on the right side of immigration. “DREAMers” may not be able to vote, but you can bet your bottom dollar that Mexican – Americans can vote on behalf of them. Mexican-Americans who can vote are already looking ahead to 2016, because we are well aware of the approximate 500,000 new coming of age Latin voters per year, and unfortunately Rep. Steve King is putting the GOP on the path to extinction.
Solution to end Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s regime: Call Congress to support legal immigration reform
Other folks may try to convince you to give them money in an effort to oust Sheriff Joe Arpaio, but the dilemma can only be solved at the federal level. It was the federal 287(g) program that created the Sheriff Joe Arpaio monster under Section 287(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act to begin with. It will take a federal new law that will fix the obvious broken immigration system that has received the bipartisan support of Republicans, Democrats and Independents via the Gang of Eight Legal Immigration Reform Plan.
It is free to call Congress asking them to support immigration reform and you can do so by calling the TOLL FREE NUMBER: 866-338-1015.
Many of us knew a local recall Arpaio effort would not succeed since it was launched shortly and too soon after he was elected in November 2012 … and just because we lost a battle does not mean we have to lose this immigration war.
It is not too late!
Please call your Senators and Congressmen now and tell them to support the Gang of Eight – S. 744: Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act, now!
You can locate your Senators and Representatives here — please call them right now! Remind them of our broken immigration system and a much needed law that works!
Texas DREAMers join New York DREAMers to protest Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for anti-immigrant views
The Republican Party lost the Presidential elections of November 2012 in light of their bigotry towards Mexican-Americans and families, and they will continue to lose the voting bloc of the fastest growing demographic with politicians like Cuban-American Sen. Ted Cruz. Indeed Cruz will hurt the best interest and overall goals of the GOP.
Texas DREAM Act activists are joining New York DREAM Act activists to protest Texas Senator Ted Cruz for his anti immigrant views today. Bottom line: Politicians like Ted Cruz are making it harder for the Republican Party to win future elections -- particularly in states like Texas with high Mexican-American population. I predict Cruz will be a one term Senator.
Cuban-American Cruz becomes the convenient “Hispanic” while he stabs the many Mexican-American families living in Texas in the back. The majority of the Latin population in the United States (almost 70%) and in Texas are of Mexican descent. He wants the media to go to him on Hispanic issues, but does not vote what the majority of us are screaming for in our communities.
It’s no wonder DREAM Act activists all across the Nation have been referring to him as a “vendido.”
Civil Rights and Immigration Lawyer, Shirl Mora James — President of Somos Independents reminds Senator Ted Cruz why he should support the Gang Of Eight and Legal Immigration Reform:
Unfortunately, Cruz has forgotten that we also have a legacy of slavery, the Indian Wars, Chinese exclusion laws, the Jim Crow Laws, etc., which is why immigration reform is so necessary in regards to immigration law. It is a bit hypocritical for Cruz to be so anti-immigrant when his own father was a Cuban immigrant.
PROTEST DATE: Wednesday, May 29, 2013
PROTEST TIME: 5:00 pm EST
LOCATION: Grand Hyatt 109 E 42nd St Manhattan, NY
DRM writes:
Friends, Ted Cruz will be visiting New York City next week! If you have been following the progress for immigration reform, you have seen that the senator has been trying to kill the bill. We can not longer let him get away with attacks to our families and our communities. Will you join us on this protest to unwelcome Ted Cruz to our city?
Republican Bob Dole is right — the GOP should be ‘closed for repairs’
Bob Dole is right on with his recent message. The Republican Party should be closed for repairs.
As a former Republican (now I’m an independent registered voter), I voted for Bob Dole when he ran against President Clinton. I was just ending my active duty career in the United States Air Force (going into non-active duty status) at the time that I made that vote and I was still living in Kansas after receiving orders to McConnell AFB, KS. I do favor veterans who served our country (especially during war) and Bob Dole was a World War II veteran.
The Tea Party effectively turned the GOP into the Party of No and a bunch of bigots.
Just in from CNN:
GOP should be ‘Closed for repairs,’
Posted by(CNN) – National Republicans have shifted so drastically in the past decade that the party’s most vaunted figure – former President Ronald Reagan – would no longer find a home in the GOP, former Sen. Bob Dole claimed Sunday.
“Reagan couldn’t have made it,” Dole said, adding he too would also have faced challenges in today’s Republican Party.
Instead of operating day-to-day in a nonelection year, the national party should focus on broader plans to rehabilitate itself after the losses of 2012, the former Kansas lawmaker said.
“I think they ought to put a sign on the national committee doors that says ‘Closed for repairs’ until New Year’s Day next year. Spend that time going over ideas and positive agendas,” Dole, who was the Republican nominee for president in 1996, said on “Fox News Sunday.” FULL STORY HERE>>>
