Bulk of Chicano / Latino Population Critical Of Sen. Rubio’s Run For Presidency
The majority of the Hispanic / Latino population pie in the United States are those of Mexican descent. Mexican American Chicanos for the most part heavily populate the southwestern part of our Nation. Now that Florida’s Cuban American Senator via Sen. Marco Rubio is running for President, we believe it is time to remember the facts and bring up history in an effort to remind ourselves how weak his leadership skills really are.
Chicano Sin No. 1: Senator Marco Rubio supported Arizona’s “papers please” law that would have directly affected brown-skinned Chicanos and Latinos here in Arizona with regard to SB 1070. He has not recanted his support for SB 1070.
Chicano Sin No.2: His support for immigration reform via the Gang of 8 until he reversed his position and backed out.
Chicano Sin No.3: Senator Marco Rubio did not take a stand against the RNC’s anti-immigrant policy adopted in 2012 that was essentially written and blessed by Kris Kobach. If Rubio cannot express strong leadership skills within his own Party as a “Hispanic” — how can we trust he is able to run this Nation of ours?
Rubio’s main Latino constituency in Florida are of Cuban descent, therefore we believe he doesn’t understand, feel or hear the outcry experienced by Mexicans (living in the southwest) and other Latin groups who do not receive the privilege of automatic citizenship given to Puerto Ricans, or the immigration amnesty given to Cuban immigrants. Currently under the unique Cuban amnesty program, Cuban immigrants can receive at least one year of government entitlements once their foot touches American soil without first contributing to our tax paying system. Republicans have long forgotten that the GOP has indeed supported immigration amnesty for years under the Cuban Adjustment Act (CAA) while damning Mexicans, and other Latin immigrants who do not receive Cuban amnesty.
According to a CNN Op-ed by Raul Reyes:
Back in 2013, Rubio was a member of the Senate “Gang of 8″ that crafted a bipartisan proposal for comprehensive reform, including a path to citizenship for the nation’s estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants. He later distanced himself from the bill after it ran into resistance from House Republicans, and now says he favors a piecemeal approach, starting with securing the border.
His retreat on immigration means that Rubio has missed an opportunity to set himself apart from most of the presumptive Republican presidential candidates. That’s a shame, for this issue was supposed to be his calling card to Latino voters.
Instead, Rubio has embraced a typical conservative approach to immigration. He believes that President Obama’s Deferred Action program, offering deportation relief to young immigrants, should be ended. He has stated that the President’s executive action on immigration, on hold pending a circuit court review, sets a “horrifying precedent.”
Meanwhile, both the Deferred Action program and President Obama’s executive action on immigration are overwhelmingly favored by Hispanics. No wonder the research firm Latino Decisions reports that, “We find no evidence that Rubio’s candidacy will draw significant Latino support for his candidacy or for his party more generally.” So, if Rubio is counting on his ethnicity and personal history as the son of immigrants to win over fellow Hispanics, he is mistaken.
I’ll agree with Reyes’ opinion and will add to it. Within the last decade the Republican Party has transformed since 2000 when they used to fight to keep Elian Gonzales as Latinos galvanized themselves in Florida. On the other hand, we have witnessed the GOP using Marco Rubio as a Trojan Horse today as a tool to deport the “Mexican equivalents” to Elian Gonzales, and this will only serve to galvanize Latinos in the entire southwest against Republicans during the 2016 election cycle.

John Ridley New Television Drama American Crime Premiering THURSDAY MARCH 5 on ABC
With writing, timing is everything. Being in the right place at the right time.
Above: Benito Martinez — photo credit American Crime.
This powerful sneak peek trailer for a new television drama American Crime was heart wrenching for me to see. American Crime will be premiering this upcoming THURSDAY MARCH 5 10|9c on ABC.
3 things came across my thoughts while watching the impassioned performance from both Johnny Ortiz and Benito Martinez in the trailer:
1) I put myself in the shoes of the parent (Benito Martinez) whose kid was being detained for the allegation of murder. The young man (Johnny Ortiz) was complaining about his father being overbearing — but the patriarch made no apologies for his strict parenting.
2) As the authorities were separating the child from his father in light of the allegation, I thought of the immigrants who were and are separated from relatives because of a clearly broken immigration system the Republicans have stalled and refused to fix. The broken immigration system criminalizes hard working immigrant fathers and mothers who were forced to be torn apart from their children until the Obama administration used his executive powers to give some relief to these families.
3) Lastly, I thought about a friend of mine – Joaquin, who was falsely accused of a crime. My childhood friend had not yet even met the “victim” who was living in another state during the time of the allegation. I watched Joaquin’s mom and dad go through a living personal hell and watched them stand by the side of their only son.
In this American Crime Podcast hosted by film critic and radio personality Elvis Mitchell, you get to hear a 30 minute interview of the show creator John Ridley and Executive Producer Michael McDonald who discuss the series. American Crime centers around the brutal attack of a young couple in Modesto, California. Matt Skokie, a war vet, is murdered, and his wife, Gwen, is left unconscious, barely hanging on. The crime sends shock waves throughout the community stirring up tensions across socioeconomic and racial lines in this gritty new drama — from the points of view of all those involved. “It’s not about the police. It’s not about the prosecutors. It’s really about the family,” creator John Ridley says.
Essentially Ridley stated this drama was about familia and how a 3 a.m. phone call in the middle of the night can happen to anyone.
The sneak peek managed to capture a patriarch caring father chastising his son who was being detained — yet while they were taking his son away to jail after being charged for murder, you saw the hard ass of a dad turn into a very different emotional state. No matter what, the dad was going to be there for his boy to ensure he received a fair trial. You could see it in Benito’s eyes and his acting was moving.
Through the lens of a Chicana, I believe American Crime will captivate the tough love we see in ourselves an what we would do for the protection of our kids, family or friends. Often times in our culture, I see tough love displayed through discipline and/or the sheer defense of those we love in order for them to survive. Kids are our livelihood and many of us know we would die for our children no matter what.
Joseph JT Campos (playing Bruno the immigrant border jumper in the American Crime series) is an actor who made me aware of this new television drama and I’m glad he did because the sneak peak is powerfully irresistible.
I encourage my readers to watch American Crime this upcoming Thursday on ABC.
Mexican American Radio Show Host Sets Record Straight Holding Abraham Paulos Accountable
We have always been for reasonable legal immigration reform. One thing we will not stand for is for someone like Abraham Paulos believing he speaks for the majority of the hurting community. Indeed the largest community being hurt are those of Mexican descent as most of those deported are Mexicans. That said, we have our very own Carlos Galindo who is a Mexican immigrant -- now American voting citizen setting the record straight as he exposes those who have no idea how they harm immigration reform.
Several of us DO NOT want immigrant felons in our nation. We cannot risk those who kept their noses clean and who did not commit felony crimes, and we do not agree with Abraham Paulos' ideas. His "welcome the felons" affects those of Mexican descent, and our indigenous brothers and sisters from El Salvador to Uruguay and/or those who do not benefit from Cuban amnesty.
President Barack Obama has used his executive order authority that affects AMERICAN BORN children and their families .... he did what he could and if these #TeaDREAMers and Abraham Paulos feel so strongly about immigrants who have felony records ... then perhaps they should go and beg the GOP for felony forgiveness because they are barking up the wrong tree with Democrats to this regard. The rest of us will support REASONABLE immigration policies.
If you want to know the pulse of immigration, we implore you to tune in to the Carlos Galindo show via http://tunein.com/radio/La-Mejor-FM-1400-s2978/

Carlos Galindo Show: Chris Mathews shows his true colors on Immigration
Today on The Carlos Galindo Show: Chris Mathews shows his true colors on Immigration
A friend of mine on Facebook shared a link of Chris Matthews, the popular MSNBC host of "Hardball with Chris Matthews" trashing President Obama on Immigration reform. Let's get something straight, Matthews is normally an Obama apologist. I say that as an Obama fan, mind you. I mean, to see Chris Matthews do a 180 degree on Obama was somewhat of a shocker for most people, especially when he still has the brown ring around his nose from being so far up Obama's ass. Didn't surprise me one bit considering the issue that Matthews was referring to in his temporary moment of social insanity in which he declares Immigrants whiners who have no rights and should not be taken into consideration. It's the employer argues Matthews, I agree, it is the employer that's the issue here. But every employer sanction law I've seen is weak and toothless and difficult to prosecute. The bleeding heart liberal Obama supporter has just shown his true colors when it comes to Immigration. Mathews rants about Obama doing Immigration his way! Matthews looks genuinely perturbed! I can just imagine what he was thinking as he spewed out a milder version of what I'm sure he was thinking. We heard what he said, and you can observe it here for yourself, but what Matthews was really thinking was, "Obama is about to allow millions of illegals to integrate themselves into the American system destroying the way of life as I know it."
Matthews is from the old school. Minorities knew their place, and if you granted rights to minorities, it would be first blacks, then women and then gays. Mexicans and the lot do not rate as individuals with rights, human or otherwise according to Matthews. In Matthews White Catholic affluent life, undocumented Immigrants are the "help," and Matthews just can't see them any other way.
By the way, the reason I was not at all surprised at Matthews' rant on Immigration is because I knew good and well that he thinks like his buddy Pat Buchanan, who on Matthews' show in 2007 invoked Operation Wetback as a viable solution to remove all the "illegals." Matthews stood by with an approving smirk as Buchanan invoked a painful time in history in which Mexicans were not only denigrated, but many Americans of Mexican descent were removed illegally from the United States.

Now Is The Time For Pro Life Groups To Help 6 mo. Baby Who Survived Immigrant Mom Beaten To Death
A Pro Life Call To Help 6 month Baby Miraculously Delivered By C-Section
By DeeDee Garcia Blase
We were the first to report the story in English of an undocumented pregnant Mexican woman who was beaten to death. There were news stories regarding the woman who was beaten to a pulp and hospitalized, but few people knew she died until surviving members of Paola Delgado-Polanco were asking for financial help to bring the body back to Mexico and to help the miracle baby (delivered by c-section) who is in critical condition right now.
I wonder, and my gut instinct tells me that anti-immigrant sentiment and the dehumanization of undocumented immigrants played a role in nonchalant reporting. After all, many of us hear and continue to hear time and time again public political officials refer to immigrants as pigs, cockroaches, cattle and so forth. In fact, some political officials have advocated shooting them.
As a former long life Republican, now proud independent -- nothing affected me quite like the dehumanizing term of "anchor baby" because I used to be a staunch pro life activist who volunteered my time to help the Arizona Right To Life and other pro life causes. Things took a turn when the Arizona Republican former Sen. Russell Pearce wanted to deny brown babies born in the U.S.A. their right to citizenship under the 14th Amendment of the United States Constitution. The day the now ousted Senator Russell Pearce began attacks on our 14th Amendment / birthright citizenship in Arizona legislative hearings was the day Arizonans For Better Government filed recall papers. The day chosen to file recall paperwork was essentially a pro life symbol -- not just an economic immigrant one for me. There were 2 recall Russell Pearce Groups, but Arizonans For Better Government were the first.
Pro life leaders wanted me to put the pro life issue before my legal immigration reform activism, however, the story of Paola Delgado Polanco can give an example to pro life leaders of Catholic-leaning pro life organizations why legal immigration reform is important. Reports show that undocumented immigrant women fear reporting her abuser for fear of getting deported. In other words, pro life organizations must support additional means, too, for undocumented immigrant mothers to feel safe in reporting a domestic abuser without fear in order for them to be strong for their babies, too.
According to the UK Guardian:
A pregnant woman who was beaten to death by her boyfriend who assaulted with a baseball bat has died, but not before giving birth to a baby girl.
Police say 21-year-old Paola Delgado-Polanco, who was originally from Mexico, was pronounced dead on Wednesday morning after being violently assaulted at her trailer park home in Delaware.
Miss Polanco was found by paramedics and died just hours later from her injuries.
Before she died, she gave birth to a baby girl who was born three months premature.
The newborn is listed in critical but stable condition at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware.
...
Paola's family in Puente de Camotlan in Mexico are hoping that people may be able to donate to help bring her body back to her home country.
They have set up a page which they also hope will help to raise some funds to help care for her newborn baby girl which the family will now look after.
We implore pro life leaders to help us help the 6 month preemie baby alive. The baby is in critical condition, and the family needs help and prayers.
The family writes:
(ENGLISH)
Paola Eden Delagado Polanco was a young thriving girl and full of life, with charming simplicity and humility. She died October 29 at her 21 years as a victim of domestic violence caused by her boyfriend in Bear, Delaware. Paola was six months pregnant, and by a miracle the baby survived. God has plans for all of us and Paola is now in the kingdom of heaven with our Heavenly Father. She was beautiful, but her inner beauty was far more radiant than her physical attractiveness. We urge support for funeral expenses and to send her body to rest in her home town of Puente de Camotlan Nayarit, Mexico. We also ask for your help in the expenses for her premature baby girl who has a long journey ahead of her. Thank you and may God bless you .

Brown lives matter, and I hope pro life organizations get a better understanding why we must protect undocumented mothers first with our continued legal immigration reform advocacy. This dilemma is sort of like the "chicken before laying the egg" thing.
Arizona & Texas Chicano / Immigration Activists Raises Cuban Amnesty For Adults Regarding Central American Kids In Nogales
The Cuban privileged amnesty buzz is being brought back to the forefront with regard to the Central American children who are detained in detention centers in both Nogales, Arizona and in Texas.
Arizona Chicano Activist, formerly with Voto Latino in the State of Arizona says:
If Cuban Adults qualify as refugees, then most certainly these Central American Children can qualify. Interesting how Politicians have been happy to receive Cuban 'refugees' accept them into their communities, groom them for political careers, and even present them to the country as their minority poster boys...yet when a group of children without homes, many without parents, arrive in desperation from our neighboring country the predominant conversation on the topic is about how to slam the door or how to fast to drop them off in the jungle!
I can't help but to be reminded of the 'wet foot dry foot' policy enjoyed by Cubans for over four decades now. Could the dire circumstances of these Central American countries be compared to the circumstances precipitating the Cuban Adjustment Act 1966? May we suggest that the Cuban situation no longer presents the exigency that merits such an accommodation as automatic citizenship? May we further suggest that perhaps now there may be another country in the world where the current political economic and social conditions present a more clear and present danger to the people who live there, lets say...Honduras (commonly known as the MOST VIOLENT COUNTRY IN THE WORLD), whose children are arriving at our doorstep carrying nothing with them but the hope of life? Cuban parents use the US as a sort of boarding school where they send their children to be groomed as politicians (or hip hop moguls). Hondurans send their kids to the US to escape torture and death. Perhaps its time to raise the bridge to freedom we've extended to Cuba for the last 48 years and give another country some love.
This same message has been in question for some time in the southwestern part of the United States -- home of a high Chicano / Mexican-American population.
Texas State Rep. Rene Oliveira told Valley Central News:
State Representative Rene Oliveira said Thursday that 90,000 unaccompanied, undocumented children mainly from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, will cross the U.S. - Mexico border illegally, by September.
The vast majority, he added, are expected to be between the ages of 5 and 14.
"Anybody who doesn't blame it on a failed - on the failure of our federal government to deal with immigration reform, is foolish," Oliveira said.
The democratic state representative compares this wave of mass illegal immigration to the exodus of Cubans in the 1980’s.
FOMC Update: Find out why Federal Reserve Chair Yellen Says Short Term Economy Rebounding But Long Term Outlook A Concern
Here is another reason why obstructionist Tea Party Republicans ought to put legal immigration reform up for a vote. Now that Rep. Eric Cantor is out of the way, the Nation will be able to indicate whether or not newly appointed House Leader Kevin McCarthy will help solve tough issues in a bipartisan way.
From Daily Ticker:
In her quarterly news conference following the Federal Open Market Committee's policy announcement, Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen said the economy is rebounding from the slump in the first-quarter and projected further, quicker declines in the unemployment rate.
But Yellen's long-term projections for the economy were not quite as upbeat. The Fed lowered its long-term growth outlook for the U.S. economy to 2.1%, another downward revision. Fed officials also lowered the outlook for long-term interest rate targets to 3.75%, below the typical rate of 4%.
....
Aging demographics in the U.S., low productivity growth and weak investments could all slow long-term growth, according to Garcia. He acknowledges that it’s difficult to get out of a long-term slump, but the International Monetary Fund has some suggestions that the U.S. would be wise to take. “I think infrastructure spending would be great," he says. "The nation’s infrastructure has been crumbling for quite a bit and if you do something about it now you get a lot of benefits. One is that you put some people to work, so it’s a demand-side idea, but it also raises the longer-term potential growth rate of the economy itself.”
Another way to stave of stagnation would be liberalizing immigration policy, according to Garcia. “Look, it’s not time to panic yet,” concludes Garcia. “In the short-term, people will pretty soon be able to participate in a more vigorous economy and in the long-term you never know about these things.” Watch video here >>>
House Dems Will Try to Force Immigration Vote - NBC News
Breaking....this move will remind Chicano / Latino / Hispanic voters to come out in droves come 2014 and 2015 elections! Good move by a powerful woman at the Hill via Rep. Nancy Pelosi. Women are trying to get the job done!
From NBC News:
House Dems Will Try to Force Immigration Vote
BY FRANK THORP V
House Democrats will file another 'discharge petition' Wednesday in an effort to force a vote on a bill to overhaul the nation's immigration system.
The move, which would need to obtain 218 signatures, is not expected to succeed (There are currently 199 Democrats in the House). House Democrats will unveil the petition at a Wednesday morning press event on the steps of the Capitol.
House Democrats have filed seven discharge petitions in the 113th Congress, all of which failed to obtain the signatures needed to force a vote on legislation. In the last 30 years, only seven discharge petitions have obtained enough signatures to force a vote.
Earlier this year, Democrats used the tactic to try to bring an extension of unemployment benefits and an increase in the federal minimum wage to the House floor. While those attempts failed, the process itself has been used as a messaging tool to highlight Republican's unwillingness to bring up bills.
In the case of Wednesday's discharge petition, Democrats are attempting to force a vote on HR 15 -- effectively the Senate-passed immigration bill with changes to the language concerning border security. That bill has three Republican co-sponsors: California Reps. David Valadao and Jeff Denham and Florida’s Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.
But in the past, Republicans have not bucked their leadership and joined with Democrats to force a vote.
Carlos Galindo: 1st National Bilingual Political Radio Talk Show Host Blasts NCLR's Janet Murguia
Tune in on Wednesday morning, 7 am - 9 pm Arizona time as we listen to the Carlos Galindo show. Galindo is the first National political radio show that conducts its program in both Spanish and in English capturing a wider audience.
Here is what Galindo has to say about NCLR's President via Janet Murguia:
Janet Murguia is way out of line! She and others are complicit to the deportation of millions of my brothers and sisters. I will not stand for this, and neither should any of you. Largest Latino Advocacy Organization? Get real! They became a corporate monster long ago. They don't serve our communities, they serve the Hispanic Chamber's of Commerce and others who profit off of us.
People! Wake up! NCLR and the rest of these failed Pro-Immigrant leaders are hurting our mid-term election chances. The more they attack this President, the more they damage his image the way the Republicans have been doing, the less of a chance of us getting anything done in this country.
In 2010 members of NCLR floated the idea of punishing Barack Obama by abstaining from voting in order to hurt his allies who were Democratic candidates. We lost the house to Tea baggers. Do we want a repeat?
How many of you really see National Council of La Raza as your Latino Advocacy Organization?
It appears NCLR has lost it's touch with regular people when they sold out to major corporate giants.
Here is how genuine immigration leaders and activists responded to NCLR earlier this morning:
